Leftover Pie Crust Idea :)
Filed under: What's Cooking by jess
Last month I made a pumpkin pie from scratch. (Which turned out surprisingly well!) Actually, that’s not entirely true. I made a pumpkin pie filling from scratch. The crust, however, was of the pre-packaged Pillsbury variety. And it was one of two in the package. So after the one got used in the pumpkin pie, its twin languished, nigh-forgotten, in the fridge for about a month. Well, last night, I finally decided to do something (anything!) with it.
So I rolled the crust out on some wax paper and cut it into smaller pieces. I thin-sliced an apple and put a few apple slices on a piece of the dough. I topped the apple pieces with a bit of butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon, then covered all that with another piece of crust and pinched the edges of the dough together all around. I put all of the little yummy apple-filled dough pockets on a greased baking sheet, and for good measure I squirted some honey all over the top of them. They were baked at 350 degrees for about 10 minutes, and then set out to cool for another 5 minutes. (Warning! Contains hot apple-cinnamon flavored lava!) Finally, one of the longest 15-minute waits of my life was over, and the yummy impromptu apple turnovers were promptly and eagerly devoured with a tall cool glass of milk.

Hot delicious lava! But yeah… those did turn out pretty well.
